Capcom removes Dragon’s Dogma 2 microtransactions before Dark Arisen

Capcom announced that, effective June 24‑25 2026, the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition and several downloadable content packs will no longer be sold. The publisher will also apply a permanent price reduction to the digital base game. Items being removed include character‑editing options, fast‑travel tools, Wakestones, Rift Crystals, Portcrystals and other convenience microtransactions that attracted criticism after the game’s 2024 launch.

The move follows player backlash over the large number of paid shortcuts that could make parts of the game easier. Capcom has already released a quality‑of‑life update that adds free versions of some of these utilities and announced a further update for August. The changes are timed for the upcoming Dark Arisen expansion, set to launch on October 9 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
