Capcom reveals Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion for 2027

Capcom has revealed the first trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a massive expansion scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The expansion continues the narrative following the main game, centered on the devastation caused by the arrival of the colossal Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung. In response, the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team will construct the Madoi Stronghold to prepare for its return.

The expansion introduces the Skybound Eyrie, a new floating locale situated above the clouds in the Wyveria region, featuring ancient ruins and unique endemic life. New monsters revealed include the pack-hunting aerial predator Araketa and the storm-controlling Elder Dragon Gundoraja.

Gameplay updates include the introduction of the Boost Bracer, a new piece of equipment that allows hunters to perform enhanced attacks, combos, and mobility maneuvers across all 14 weapon types. The expansion will also feature a new Master Rank difficulty level. To access this content, players must own the base game, reach Hunter Rank 40, and complete the quest ‘Awakening from a Dream’.
