Capcom reveals new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom is preparing for the September 4 release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC. The new entry in the series features protagonist Miyamoto Musashi, a bearer of the Oni Gauntlet, navigating an early Edo-period Kyoto under attack by Genma creatures.

A new trailer from the “Curious Cases of Onimusha” series focuses on the character Sasaki Ganryu, also known as Sasaki Kojiro, whose fate is linked to Musashi. The character appears to also possess an Oni Gauntlet.

Lead writer Hiroshi Yamashita revealed that the game incorporates historical elements, specifically the influence of Izumo no Okuni, the inventor of Kabuki theater. While she may not appear directly, her legacy serves as a narrative driver for Musashi’s journey.
