Capcom reveals new weapon gameplay for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance

Capcom has released new trailers for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion, showcasing enhanced combat mechanics for specific weapons. Recent footage highlights the Long Sword and Lance, focusing on new accelerated actions enabled by the expansion's new tool, the Burst Accelerator.

The Burst Accelerator allows hunters to enter a time-limited enhanced state to perform unique attacks and improved versions of base game moves. For the Lance, this includes a new vertical strike capable of canceling enemy offensives followed by a powerful thrust. The Long Sword features new axe slashes to mitigate enemy attacks and enhanced transformation moves.

The Ascendance expansion is slated for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A version for Nintendo Switch 2 is also reportedly in development.
