Capcom moves Onimusha: Way of the Sword launch to September 4, 2026

Capcom announced that the long‑awaited action title **Onimusha: Way of the Sword** will launch on **September 4, 2026**, three weeks earlier than the previously scheduled September 25 date. The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store. A playable demo is already available on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam and Epic Games Store, and progress saved in the demo can be redeemed for a special Kubi Akari amulet in the full version.

Pre‑order options include Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions; customers who purchase any edition before September 24 will receive Early Adopter Bonuses. The story follows samurai Miyamoto Musashi, equipped with a mystical Oni Gauntlet, battling demonic forces in an Edo‑period Kyoto setting.

Capcom’s producer Akihito Kadowaki noted that the September launch window is unusually crowded with other major titles, but confirmed the company remains confident in the game's appeal. For Nintendo Switch 2 users, the change means previously made download reservations have been automatically cancelled and must be re‑booked.

The announcement was made from Capcom’s San Francisco office, reflecting the company’s global operations headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
