Capcom releases free Monster Hunter Wilds demo, cuts price, adds 2026 championship

Capcom has made the Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue demo available on August 5 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam). The free demo lets players experience the prologue through Chapter 1‑3 (“To the Forest”) offline, with full access to the character creator, all 14 weapon types and early monsters. Save data created in the demo can be transferred to the full game on the same platform.

Alongside the demo, Capcom announced a permanent price reduction for the base game – $39.99 in the United States, R$169 on Steam in Brazil, £79.99 in the United Kingdom and equivalent local prices – and introduced new purchase bundles: a Gold Edition (game plus cosmetic DLC collection), a Cosmetic DLC Collection (ten cosmetic packs) and an Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack. The previous Deluxe, Premium Deluxe and Cosmetic DLC Pass bundles have been retired, though existing owners retain access.

Capcom also confirmed the Monster Hunter Wilds Championship – Global Exhibition, scheduled for September 2026. Regional qualifiers will be held in Japan, the United States, Europe and Taiwan, with the top four pairs of hunters competing in the global event. The company noted that the large‑scale Ascendance expansion is slated for release in 2027 and that a version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is in development.
