Cappadocia balloon tourism draws 306,000 visitors in first half of 2026
In the first six months of 2026, hot‑air balloon operations over Cappadocia recorded 11,954 flights across 92 days, carrying 306,777 domestic and foreign tourists. The activity accounted for more than 80% of Turkey’s total balloon flights, despite only a fraction of the country's flight days occurring in the region.
The UNESCO World Heritage landscape, including Göreme National Park and its iconic fairy‑chimney valleys, continued to attract visitors from around the globe. With the summer season underway, operators expect flight numbers and passenger volumes to rise further in the second half of the year.
