Cappuccini Church in Teramo reopens after restoration

The Cappuccini Church in Teramo has reopened to the public following three and a half years of restoration and structural work. The project, which cost over 1.5 million euros, was initiated in April 2023 after roof infiltrations raised concerns regarding the building's stability.

The renovation included seismic upgrading, environmental recovery, and the modernization of systems. Funding was provided through 1.1 million euros from the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) supplemented by an additional 450,000 euros. The church is managed by the Prefecture of Teramo and belongs to the Ministry of the Interior's religious buildings fund.

During the restoration, workers uncovered 20th-century paintings that had been hidden for decades. Additionally, the electrification of the reliquaries led to the discovery of further historical elements. Religious services, including Sunday masses, weddings, and funerals, will resume at the site.
