Restoration of Cappuccini Church in Teramo

Overview

The Cappuccini Church in Teramo has reopened to the public following three and a half years of structural work and restoration. The project, which cost over 1.5 million euros, was initiated in April 2023 to address stability concerns caused by roof infiltrations.

Funded largely through the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), the renovation included seismic upgrading, environmental recovery, and system modernization. During the process, workers uncovered 20th-century paintings that had been hidden for decades, and the electrification of reliquaries led to the discovery of additional historical elements. Religious services, including Sunday masses, weddings, and funerals, are set to resume at the site.
