Capuchin Friars Celebrate Assisi Forgiveness Festival across Italy
From July 30 to August 2, the Capuchin Friars of San Severino’s convent in Colpersito organized the annual Festa del Perdono. The programme featured a mystical dialogue on nature and spirituality, penitential liturgies, communal meals, and a musical‑theatrical tribute titled “Francesco vs Francesco,” marking the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi’s death. Free admission was offered throughout the event, with priests available for the sacrament of reconciliation.
In the same period, the Franciscan Jubilee was observed in Lombardy, where the Diocese of Como held penitential celebrations at the Como Cathedral and at the church of Colda in Valtellina. The Fraternità Santo Spirito led the liturgies, reaffirming the tradition of the Indulgence of the Porziuncola, which invites the faithful to confession, mass, and prayer for a plenary indulgence.
Both events underscore the enduring significance of the Assisi Forgiveness tradition within Italy’s Catholic community during this special jubilee year.
