Caraș-Severin school network faces closures and relocations

The 2026–2027 school year in Caraș-Severin County will see significant changes to the regional educational network. According to school inspector Ion Moatăr, the county's network will consist of 115 legal educational units and 269 affiliated structures, covering all levels from pre-school to post-secondary education.

The network is facing a reduction of 14 educational units. Affected institutions include several kindergartens in Reșița, Bocșa, Secu, Slatina Nera, and Ilova, as well as primary schools in Slatina Nera, Sat Bătrân, Ciudanovița Sat, Prisaca, Bucoșnița, Ilova, and Ersig. The primary school in Lăpușnicu Mare is also expected to join this group pending approval from the Ministry of Education and Research.

Additionally, 18 educational situations involve student relocation. Due to ongoing rehabilitation and modernization works, students from various kindergartens and schools—including locations in Vărădia, Lupac, Zănogi, Cârnecea, Secășeni, Nermed, Carașova, Feneș, Jupa, Petnic, Lăpușnicel, and Reșița—will not attend classes at their usual sites. Completion dates for these construction projects vary, with some scheduled for late 2026 and others extending into 2027 or early 2028.
