Wildfires affect over 300 hectares in Romania's Caraș-Severin

Multiple wildfires have affected over 300 hectares of forest and dry vegetation across various regions in Romania. In Caraș-Severin County, authorities are facing a critical situation with several major hotspots.

The most difficult intervention is occurring in the Domogled-Valea Cernei National Park near Băile Herculane, where approximately 25 hectares of forest and ground cover are burning. Due to the rugged terrain, two helicopters from the General Inspectorate of Aviation are providing massive aerial support, having completed nearly 100 water drops.

Other significant fires in Caraș-Severin include a 100-hectare blaze in Măru, which has been localized with a safety perimeter established to protect nearby homes, and a 60-hectare fire in Pârvova. A 55-hectare fire was also reported in the Secu neighborhood of Reșița.

In Botoșani County, separate incidents involved fires in Dumeni, Davidoaia, Ștefănești, and Săveni. These incidents affected agricultural crops, fodder, and dry vegetation, with authorities noting that causes likely ranged from electrical short circuits to the improper use of open flames.
