Carabineros boost preventive policing in Quirihue and Temuco neighborhoods
Carabineros of the 5th precinct in Quirihue, Chile, launched a series of preventive patrols and community‑outreach activities in the rural San Francisco sector. The initiative includes focused patrols, preventive visits and meetings with residents, local leaders and landowners to gather information, address security concerns and deter property‑related crimes. Comisar Alfredo Castillo emphasized the importance of close coordination with the community to plan effective deployments and encourage timely reporting of incidents.
In the city of Temuco, municipal authorities and police forces conducted coordinated operations targeting vehicle inspections, illegal alcohol‑sale venues and other public‑order violations following complaints from residents. The effort involved Carabineros, the Police Investigations Department, transport regulators and municipal teams, resulting in multiple infractions for unlicensed businesses, improperly parked vehicles and traffic violations. Mayor Roberto Neira highlighted the strategy of placing community safety at the centre of municipal action, while officials stressed that the operations are part of an ongoing plan to restore order and improve quality of life in the city's most affected districts.
