Carabineros de Chile reports increased police activity in Coquimbo and Copiapó

Carabineros de Chile has reported significant operational activity across different regions. In Coquimbo, the Second Police Station recorded 218,921 interventions during 2025, marking a 13.7% increase from the previous year. These operations resulted in 6,127 arrests, including over 1,500 for serious crimes such as robbery and assault. Authorities also seized 293 weapons, nearly 400 rounds of ammunition, and more than 1,500 fireworks.

In the Atacama region, the 5th Police Station of Copiapó celebrated 90 years of service. The unit focuses on crime prevention through patrols in Copiapó and Vallenar, public order control during mass events, and community engagement via educational programs. The station also played a role in emergency responses, including evacuations during recent climatic events in the region.
