Carabineros detain 11 in focused patrol of El Boro, Alto Hospicio

Carabineros carried out a focused patrol in the El Boro sector of Alto Hospicio, Chile, detaining 11 people. The operation included 30 checks – 23 identity checks on individuals and seven vehicle checks – and resulted in the seizure of a quantity of base cocaine paste and 104 packs of contraband cigarettes.

Six detainees were arrested on outstanding warrants for offenses such as simple threats, robbery with intimidation, possession of a cell phone in a prison, carrying a bladed weapon and driving under the influence. Additional arrests involved a drug‑law violation, two drivers without a professional licence and two cases of customs‑related theft. Prefect of Iquique, Colonel Diego Salas, said these focused services will continue in other parts of the Tarapacá region to strengthen public security and meet community needs.
