Chile's Carabineros seize $357M in drugs and recover dozens of stolen vehicles

Carabineros in Los Ángeles seized about 7.5 kg of cocaine base, 17 kg of marijuana and 71,000 doses of narcotics valued at more than $357 million, arresting two suspects.

In parallel, the force’s vehicle‑recovery initiatives recovered 46 stolen cars in La Araucanía worth over $418 million and detained 25 people under the “Plan Centinela”. A border operation in Antofagasta recovered two stolen trucks and detained a Bolivian national, while a separate pursuit continues for a third vehicle. The SEBV unit in Ñuble retrieved a stolen motorcycle and arrested two adolescents; in Linares police seized firearms and $100 million worth of contraband cigarettes during a violent robbery; and in Mostazal seven suspects were arrested after a shooting, with weapons and ammunition seized.

Carabineros also bolstered its capabilities with a new Airbus H145 helicopter funded with more than 11.5 billion Chilean pesos for the Tarapacá region, and a court in Valparaíso handed a 15‑year prison term to a man convicted of homicide.
