Carabineros reports crime statistics for Longaví and Tarapacá
Carabineros de Chile has released updated crime and operational statistics for different regions. In Longaví, the Subcomisaría reported 11,695 police procedures during its 2025 public account period. This included 551 apprehensions, 6,045 judicial orders, and 1,865 traffic violations. Operational activities also involved 7,314 controls, including vehicle checks, commercial inspections, and identity verifications.
In the Tarapacá region, data from the Tactical Special Operations System (STOP) indicates a significant rise in specific crimes during July 2026. Public consumption of alcohol and drugs increased by 64.3% compared to the first seven months of 2025. Receiving stolen goods (receptación) rose by 58.1%, with 419 cases recorded. Drug trafficking also saw a 32% increase. Between January and August, authorities seized 1,087.2 kilograms of drugs, including cocaine, cocaine paste, and marijuana.
Conversely, Tarapacá saw decreases in public disorder (-43.8%), theft of property (-43.2%), and serious injuries (-23.7%). Domestic violence remains a high-frequency issue in the region, with 2,601 reported cases.
