Carabineros seize firearms and drugs in large La Serena operation

In a massive security sweep in the Las Compañías neighborhood of La Serena, Chile, the 6th Carabineros precinct conducted about 300 checks within hours. The operation resulted in three arrests, the confiscation of an illegal firearm and multiple doses of illicit substances, and the issuance of 19 traffic infractions. Police carried out 207 pedestrian identity checks and 80 vehicle inspections, aiming to restore public safety and deter criminal activity in the area.

The Carabineros said the raid targeted high‑risk points and will be repeated to maintain community tranquility, emphasizing the role of such high‑impact patrols in curbing crime and responding to local residents' security demands.
