Carabinieri hold awareness meetings to prevent elderly fraud

The Carabinieri are conducting awareness campaigns to help elderly citizens recognize and prevent various types of fraud. In Pitino, an event titled ‘Pitino Informa’ provided practical advice and concrete examples to help residents identify risk situations.

In Priverno, officials met with community members to illustrate common scams, including those involving individuals posing as law enforcement officers, lawyers, or public utility workers. These scammers often use fake emergencies or legal issues involving family members to frighten victims into handing over money or jewelry. Other tactics include impersonating bank or utility employees to gain entry into homes or induce fraudulent bank transfers. Participants were advised never to share personal data, banking credentials, or sensitive information with strangers.
