Italy's Carabinieri mark 212th foundation with events drawing over 500,000 visitors

Rome hosted the centerpiece of the Carabinieri's 212th foundation celebrations from 4–7 June at Villa Borghese. The "Villaggio Arma" exhibition attracted more than half a million visitors and featured stands, conferences, demonstrations, an equestrian show, and a concert by the Carabinieri Band. High‑profile attendees included Carabinieri Commander General Salvatore Luongo, Vice‑President of the Council Antonio Tajani and other civil and military officials. The programme also highlighted a talk on fraud prevention by Lino Banfi and a live broadcast powered by certified renewable energy.

Regional ceremonies were held in Frosinone, Varese and Pavia. In Varese, Colonel Marco Gagliardo praised the force's work on crime prevention and highlighted arrest figures. The Pavia ceremony honoured several officers with simple commendations for investigations that led to multiple arrests and rescues. These events underscored the Carabinieri's community outreach, youth engagement and operational successes across Italy.
