Rome police hunt suspects in series of microcar assaults

Authorities in Rome are investigating a series of violent assaults occurring between October 4 and October 5. The attacks, which have targeted at least six individuals, are believed to be the work of two young people, possibly minors, operating from a black electric microcar.

One of the most serious incidents involved actor Davide Iacopini, who was struck while riding a scooter in via Anton Giulio Barrili. Iacopini remains in intensive care at San Camillo Hospital in serious condition following the assault.

Other victims include a 67-year-old man in viale dei Quattro Venti, who was struck with a plastic tube, and a 35-year-old cyclist at Ponte Testaccio. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the Monteverde Vecchio and Testaccio areas to identify the suspects and the vehicle. A potential lead has emerged following a report of a stolen black microcar that matches the description of the vehicle used in the raids. Prosecutor Ambrogio Cassiani is overseeing the attempted murder investigation.
