Carabinieri seize dump truck and fine three workers for illegal waste dumping in Aversa

Carabinieri Forestale units from Marcianise stopped three construction workers in the Cappuccini district of Aversa, Campania, as they unloaded an overloaded Fiat Doblò filled with non‑hazardous construction waste. The cargo included a disused bathtub, wooden boards, furniture pieces, metal doors, plastic tubes and other urban solid waste, allegedly from unauthorized renovation work.

The officers seized the vehicle, placed the three workers under investigation and ordered the driver’s licence to be suspended for three to nine months, with a possible confiscation of the van if convicted. The incident occurred shortly after the area was cleared under the direction of General Division Giuseppe Vadalà, the commissioner responsible for landfill and contaminated‑site remediation, highlighting the persistence of illegal dumping despite intensified anti‑waste efforts.

Authorities warned that such behaviour threatens soil and groundwater quality and poses public‑health risks, underscoring ongoing challenges in the so‑called "Terra dei Fuochi" region.
