Carabobo reports two femicides within 24 hours

Two femicides occurred within a 24-hour period in the state of Carabobo, Venezuela, sparking concerns regarding gender-based violence in the region.

In the Diego Ibarra municipality, 39-year-old Dorian Emmanuel Ortiz Viloria, an active officer of the National Bolivarian Police (PNB), shot and killed his partner, 33-year-old Yasmira Maglet Sánchez Castro. The incident took place at a lottery agency in the Umberto Celli sector during a verbal dispute. Following the murder, Ortiz Viloria committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Witnesses, including the victim's father, reported that the officer used his service weapon during the altercation.

Hours prior to this event, 23-year-old Yurexis Carolina Ramos Hernández was killed by her partner in the Naguanagua municipality, specifically in the Las Invasiones Vietnam sector. Authorities indicated the killing was motivated by jealousy. The Scientific, Criminal, and Investigative Corps (Cicpc) has launched investigations into both cases.
