Caracal and Reșița schools in Romania begin major renovation projects

In Caracal, the historic Colegiul Național Ioniță Asan is undergoing extensive consolidation and modernization under the national "Safe and Healthy Schools" programme. Mayor Ion Doldurea and deputy mayor Lari Pătran inspected the site, where about 60 workers are reinforcing a seismic‑risk building and upgrading energy efficiency. The project aims to provide modern, safe facilities for the school's 5,348 m² main building and two additional blocks.

In Reșița, municipal authorities are preparing to move students from Liceul de Arte Sabin Păuța and the former Gen. 12 (now part of Colegiul Național Mircea Eliade) to other schools during a two‑year rehabilitation. Contracts worth 12 031 629 lei for the former Gen. 12 and 17 023 966 lei for Sabin Păuța have been issued, with bid evaluations scheduled for early July. Both projects are financed by the Regional West 2021‑2027 programme and include new furniture and specialised equipment for music and visual‑arts education.
