Caracas flooding causes death and missing persons

Heavy rainfall in Greater Caracas led to the overflowing of the El Valle River, causing catastrophic flooding on the Valle-Coche Highway. The flooding, which was forecasted by Inameh, resulted in significant damage and loss of life.

Reports indicate that one person has died, five people are missing, and more than 60 vehicles were submerged on the highway. The overflow also caused water to invade over 150 homes and flooded the stairs of the Metro Mercado station. This event marks at least the fifth major flood to occur on the Valle-Coche Highway since expansion works were completed in 2015.
