A massive multi-vehicle collision occurred in the La Yaguara sector of Caracas, Venezuela, on Friday, September 25. The accident was triggered when a heavy cargo truck, described as a 'gandola', suffered a mechanical brake failure while traveling near El Junquito.

Reports indicate the out-of-control vehicle struck approximately 12 vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and public transportation units, as well as pedestrians. The impact caused significant damage and a fuel spill at the scene. While initial reports varied, the official death toll reached at least three people, with 16 others injured. Many of the injured were transported to the Hospital Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño for emergency treatment.

Local authorities, including Caracas Mayor Carmen Meléndez and the Caracas Fire Department, deployed emergency services to manage the scene, assist victims, and clear the roadway. The driver of the heavy truck was detained as investigations continue to determine the exact circumstances of the mechanical failure.
