Cardinal Ángel Rossi warns of Argentina's social fragility ahead of papal visit
Cardinal Ángel Rossi, Archbishop of Córdoba and first vice president of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, has expressed concerns regarding the social state of Argentina ahead of the upcoming visit by Pope Leo XIV.
In an interview, Rossi described the country as being in a fragile state, characterized by social discouragement and a prevalence of divisive language. He criticized the use of a “triumphalist” rhetoric that does not reflect the current reality, suggesting that acknowledging difficulties would be more constructive for national unity.
The Cardinal highlighted the Pope’s planned visit to the Pequeño Cottolengo Don Orione as a significant gesture of support for the most vulnerable members of society. Rossi noted the high level of public expectation and hope surrounding the papal visit.
