Cardinal Sergio da Rocha appoints new vicars and hosts visiting archbishop in São Salvador da Bahia
On 29 March, Cardinal Sergio da Rocha, the Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia, presented two new episcopal vicars for the archdiocese: Father Manoel Filho was named vicar for the Pastoral area, and Father Danilo Pinto was appointed vicar for Culture, Education and Communication. The ceremony took place in the internal chapel of the Cúria Metropolitana Bom Pastor and was attended by clergy, curia staff and lay faithful.
The day before, on 28 March, Cardinal da Rocha welcomed Archbishop Paulo Jackson Nóbrega de Sousa of Olinda and Recife and his accompanying bishops for a courtesy visit. The delegation celebrated Mass at the Cathedral Basilica, toured historic basilicas—including Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Praia, Santa Dulce dos Pobres, and Senhor Bom Jesus do Bonfim—and attended a lecture on the primatial Church of Brazil. Both events emphasized pastoral collaboration and ecclesial unity within Brazil’s Catholic Church.
