Cardioalianza issues ten commitments for cardiovascular care

Cardioalianza, a Spanish patient organization, has released a manifesto outlining ten commitments to improve cardiovascular care. Launched in observance of World Heart Day, the initiative seeks to ensure that prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery are not determined by a patient's socioeconomic status, age, gender, or geographic location.

The ten proposed commitments include centering decision-making around the patient, ensuring effective prevention, improving early diagnosis, reducing territorial inequalities, and ensuring coordinated care. Other priorities include incorporating a gender perspective, facilitating access to treatments, reinforcing rehabilitation, addressing emotional health, and promoting research.

In Spain, circulatory system diseases were the second leading cause of death in 2025, accounting for 25.7% of total deaths. Globally, the World Health Organization reports that cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death, responsible for approximately 32% of all fatalities.
