Caribbean Bay suspect arrested for illegal filming and molestation
A man in his 20s has been arrested for a series of sexual crimes committed at the Caribbean Bay water park in Yongin. The suspect, identified as A, is accused of illegally filming women in the female changing rooms on July 17 and July 30. To evade detection, he reportedly wore a short-cut wig and a hat to create a gender-neutral appearance, allowing him to enter the facilities without being stopped.
In addition to the illegal filming charges, police have added charges of forcible molestation. On August 1, just two days after his second attempt at illegal filming, the suspect allegedly molested a woman in the park's wave pool. He was caught by staff at the scene following a victim's report.
Following a 20-day investigation, police apprehended the suspect at his residence in Seoul on August 21. Authorities seized a watch-shaped hidden camera, a mobile phone, a laptop, and various storage media. While the suspect admitted to the molestation, he claimed the illegal filming was done out of curiosity for personal viewing and denied distributing the footage. Police are currently conducting forensic analysis to determine the full scale of the victims and the content of the seized videos.
