CARICOM delegation visits Haiti to discuss elections and security
A delegation from the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group arrived in Haiti on September 2, 2026, to discuss the nation's political and security situation, as well as the progress of the electoral process.
The delegation, which includes former Prime Ministers Kenny Anthony of Saint Lucia, Orette Bruce Golding of Jamaica, and Perry Christie of the Bahamas, met with Foreign Minister Raina Forbin to discuss the conditions necessary for holding free, inclusive, and secure elections.
On September 4, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) met with the delegation in Pétion-Ville. CEP President Jacques Desrosiers presented updates on the electoral calendar, voter registration operations, and the functioning of Registration and Voting Centers (CIV). Desrosiers also highlighted mobilization efforts aimed at youth, women, and internally displaced persons. The CEP reaffirmed its commitment to conducting elections with transparency, impartiality, and independence.
