OAS and international mission to Haiti

Overview

On September 4, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) met with the delegation in Pétion-Ville. CEP President Jacques Desrosiers provided updates regarding the electoral calendar, voter registration operations, and the functioning of Registration and Voting Centers (CIV), while reaffirming the council’s commitment to conducting elections with “transparency, impartiality, and independence.” By September 9, as the CARICOM mission continued its week-long monitoring of the political situation, Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé expressed criticism regarding the organization’s involvement. He argued that CARICOM’s actions risk fueling political uncertainty by maintaining provisional political arrangements instead of fostering institutional stability.
