CARICOM increases humanitarian aid to Cuba

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is increasing humanitarian aid to Cuba to address worsening shortages of food, fuel, and essential supplies. Coordinated through the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana, the initiative follows a decision by regional heads of government to respond to the island’s growing needs.

The planned assistance includes rice, beans, wheat flour, powdered milk, baby formula, canned goods, medical supplies, solar panels, batteries, and water tanks. St. Kitts and Nevis has pledged US$500,000 toward the effort, with an initial US$100,000 already deposited. Mexico is also supporting the initiative by identifying suppliers and facilitating the shipment of goods to Cuba at no cost.
