Following a decision by regional heads of government, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is increasing humanitarian aid through its Secretariat in Guyana to address worsening shortages of food, fuel, and essential supplies. Planned assistance includes rice, beans, wheat flour, powdered milk, baby formula, canned goods, medical supplies, solar panels, batteries, and water tanks. St. Kitts and Nevis has pledged US$500,000 toward the effort, with an initial US$100,000 already deposited.
