Carla Zambelli raises R$ 62,000 for stay in Italy

Former Brazilian federal deputy Carla Zambelli has raised approximately R$ 62,700 (10,230 euros) through a GoFundMe campaign to fund her residence in Italy. The campaign, which aims for a total of 12,000 euros, was launched following the cancellation of a paid subscription service where she shared videos of her daily life.

Zambelli, who has Italian citizenship, stated she is seeking funds because she is unable to open a bank account or secure employment in Italy. She expressed concern regarding potential judicial freezes on her assets by Supreme Federal Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

Zambelli has been living in Italy since June 2025. She was previously detained in a Rome penitentiary for ten months before being released in May 2026 following a decision by the Italian Supreme Court. The Italian government rejected Brazil's extradition request, citing concerns regarding the impartiality of the judicial process in Brazil.

Brazil seeks her extradition to serve a ten-year prison sentence for ideological falsehood and the invasion of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) computer system. She also faces convictions related to illegal weapon possession and the harassment of a journalist.
