Carla Zambelli legal and financial situation in Italy

Overview

Former Brazilian federal deputy Carla Zambelli, who has been residing in Italy since mid-2025, has launched international fundraising efforts to support her stay. After a subscription-based platform canceled her paid community, Zambelli turned to GoFundMe to raise funds for her residence. As of early November 2026, she has raised approximately R$ 62,700 (10,230 euros) toward a 12,000 euro goal.

Zambelli claims she is unable to secure employment or open bank accounts in Europe due to judicial decisions in Brazil. She has specifically attributed these financial difficulties to Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court, alleging that the blocking of her assets and an Interpol red notice have prevented her from accessing financial services.

Zambelli faces multiple criminal convictions in Brazil, including a ten-year sentence for the hacking of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) systems and a sentence of over five years for illegal firearm possession and coercion. While the Italian government previously rejected an extradition request regarding the CNJ case due to concerns over judicial impartiality in Brazil, a new legal process regarding her second conviction remains under review in Italy.
