Carlos Bruce urges JNE to clarify Lima mayoral eligibility

Carlos Bruce, the Somos Perú candidate for Mayor of Lima, has called on the National Jury of Elections (JNE) to clarify whether Rafael López Aliaga would be eligible to receive credentials if his Renovación Popular list wins the upcoming municipal elections on October 4.

Bruce argued that voters have a right to know who would actually assume the mayoralty, expressing concern that if the JNE determines after the vote that López Aliaga faces constitutional incompatibilities, the credentials would instead be granted to another member of the list. He suggested that such a clarification could influence election results by affecting voter perception and support for Renovación Popular. Bruce also announced plans to meet with observers from the Organization of American States (OAS) to present his concerns regarding this electoral uncertainty.
