Carlos Correa expected to return to Astros lineup in September

Houston Astros manager Joe Espada announced that third baseman Carlos Correa is expected to return to action at some point in September. This timeline places Correa nearly two months ahead of the initial six-to-eight month recovery window following surgery for a torn peroneus brevis tendon in his left ankle.

Correa has recently resumed baseball activities, including fielding ground balls, sprinting at near-full effort, and participating in batting practice. He is scheduled for a follow-up medical appointment next week, which may determine when he can begin more intensive field work. Before his injury, Correa was a key contributor to the Astros' lineup, maintaining a .787 OPS.

Before returning to the major league roster, Correa will be required to participate in multiple minor-league rehabilitation games. His return is viewed as a significant potential boost for Houston as the team pursues a playoff position.
