Universitario de Deportes targets new signings for 2026 season

Universitario de Deportes is actively planning its roster for the upcoming season as the 2026 Liga 1 approaches its conclusion. The club is reportedly pursuing several key players to strengthen its squad.

One primary target is Ecuadorian defender José Carabalí. Negotiations for his return to the club have reportedly advanced following a visit to Ecuador by administrator Franco Velazco. Carabalí, who previously played for the team before moving to LDU de Quito, remains a high-value target, though his return depends on an agreement with his current club.

Additionally, Ecuadorian midfielder Carlos Gruezo has drawn significant attention after being spotted at the Monumental stadium during a recent match. Speculation regarding his potential signing has increased, with reports suggesting he may be an agent free after leaving Santos Laguna. His arrival would reportedly align with the tactical requests of coach Fabián Bustos.
