Carlos Martínez, PSOE leader in Castile and León, faces Soria corruption probe

The Guardia Civil carried out a twelve‑hour raid on the City Hall of Soria, Spain, as part of an investigation into alleged corruption, prevarication, influence‑peddling, document falsification, money laundering and participation in a criminal organization. Six people were detained, including former municipal councillor Yolanda Santos (PSOE), who was later released on provisional bail, required to appear before the court every fifteen days, and resigned her party membership. The probe centres on the period when Carlos Martínez, former mayor of Soria, served as the town's chief executive; he now holds the positions of PSOE regional secretary and spokesperson in the Castile and León Parliament. The regional PP demanded "immediate public explanations" from Martínez, describing the revelations as "very serious" and stating that "silence is not an option". The investigation remains under judicial secrecy, with the court ordering periodic appearances for those involved.
