Carlos Queiroz reappointed as Ghana national team head coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially reappointed Carlos Queiroz as the head coach of the Black Stars. This decision follows Queiroz’s initial departure after leading Ghana to the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The reappointment was finalized after discussions between the GFA, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and Queiroz himself. A key factor in the agreement was the settlement of outstanding payments owed to Queiroz and his technical staff from the previous World Cup contract.

Queiroz, 73, will begin his new mandate during the upcoming international window. His immediate priority is the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, which includes matches against Ivory Coast and The Gambia. The GFA cited his extensive international experience and technical expertise as primary reasons for his return, aiming to provide stability and continuity for the national team.
