Carlos Queiroz returns to Ghana to finalize Black Stars contract
Carlos Queiroz has returned to Ghana to finalize a new two-year contract extension as the head coach of the Black Stars. This new mandate follows his previous short-term, four-month agreement that focused on Ghana's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he led the team to the Round of 32.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have reached an agreement with the Portuguese tactician, though they have not yet publicly confirmed the specific terms or the exact duration of the deal. The GFA previously indicated that Queiroz's expertise would be vital for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has called on the GFA and the Sports Ministry to disclose the contract details. He argued that transparency regarding the length and terms of the mandate is essential to assess whether the coach has sufficient time to build a long-term squad rather than focusing solely on individual tournaments.
