Carly Rae Jepsen releases ninth studio album ‘Day and Night’
Carly Rae Jepsen has released her ninth studio album, titled ‘Day and Night’, through Interscope Records. The project features 24 new songs and is structured around two distinct thematic and sonic halves.
The ‘Day’ portion of the album focuses on sun-soaked, left-field pop and hopeful, happy melodies. This includes tracks such as ‘After All’, which references her marriage, ‘On Wires’, a jazz-inspired song, and ‘Blue Skies’. The ‘Night’ portion shifts toward maximalist dance music, disco, and upbeat, celebratory sounds, featuring tracks like ‘Motivation’ and ‘Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor’.
One of the focus tracks, ‘Versailles’, incorporates groovy synths and explores themes of desire and pleasure. The album has received critical attention, with Rolling Stone describing it as her ‘most experimental and exhilarating work’ and Vulture calling it her most ambitious project to date.
