Carly Rae Jepsen double album announcement

Overview

Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen announced a new 24-track double album titled ‘Day and Night’, scheduled for release on September 18, 2026, through Interscope Records.

The project is divided into two interconnected halves. The first half features organic, symphonic, and psychedelic sounds. The second half, titled ‘Night’, moves toward a maximalist electronic, house, and danceable aesthetic, drawing inspiration from artists like ABBA and Daft Punk.

Ahead of the album release, Jepsen released several singles to preview the different styles. ‘Don’t Leave Me on the Dancefloor’ serves as a preview for the ‘Night’ segment, featuring a music video directed by Jeremy O. Harris starring Alden Ehrenreich and Olivia Washington. The house-inspired track ‘Motivation’, produced by Cole M. G. N. and Kyle Shearer, also explores themes of family expectations and chosen family. Its music video, directed by Caio Viera, was filmed in Paris.

The final preview single, ‘After All’, focuses on the ‘Day’ side of the album. Written with collaborators Kyle Shearer and Nate Cyphert, the track explores themes of motherhood and identity. Its music video, directed by Aerin Moreno, utilizes a nostalgic visual style with home-video elements.

Separately, Jepsen has been involved in songwriting for a Broadway musical adaptation of ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ and has expressed interest in writing for the HBO production ‘Heated Rivalry’.
