Carolina Wilga to release book on Australian Outback survival
German backpacker Carolina Wilga is releasing a book detailing her survival in the Australian Outback. The 26-year-old experienced a 12-day ordeal in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region in June 2025 after encountering mechanical issues with her vehicle far from civilization.
Wilga’s disappearance triggered an intensive search and rescue mission, bringing international attention to the small town of Beacon. Her upcoming book, titled ‘Dem Outback entkommen; Mein Überlebenskampf in der australischen Wildnis’ (Escape from the Outback; My fight for survival in the Australian wilderness), is written in German and scheduled for release in Germany on September 4, 2026. Currently, there are no plans to translate the memoir into English.
