Carp prices in Poland expected to rise for Christmas
Carp prices for the upcoming Christmas season in Poland are projected to increase by 10% to 20% due to rising production and transportation costs. Additionally, a hydrological drought has impacted supply; low spring rainfall prevented some breeding ponds from reaching necessary levels, limiting fish growth and reducing the number of fish reaching market weight.
Wholesale prices are estimated at approximately 17–18 PLN per kilogram, which is 4–5 PLN higher than the previous year. Retail prices are expected to be higher once distribution and margins are included. For instance, the Milickie Ponds in the Barycz Valley, one of Poland's largest carp producers, has set a price of 28 PLN per kilogram, an 8 PLN increase over last year's direct producer prices.
