Carp prices in Poland may rise for Christmas
Carp prices in Poland may rise ahead of the Christmas season due to increasing wholesale costs and environmental factors. Zbigniew Szczepański of the Fish Promotion Association noted that wholesale prices have risen from approximately 13–14 PLN per kilogram last year to an estimated 17–18 PLN this year.
Several factors contribute to this potential increase. Unfavorable weather during the spring and September hindered fish growth. Additionally, heatwaves caused water shortages in some ponds, reducing the available area for fish to find natural food. Consequently, some carp are reportedly 10–20 percent smaller than expected under normal conditions.
