CarPoint unveils GT-K44 Porsche 944 shooting brake conversion
German tuner CarPoint GmbH has unveiled the GT-K44, a handcrafted conversion that transforms the Porsche 944 into a two-door shooting brake. The project, inspired by 1980s estate conversions, involves significant structural modifications to a customer-supplied donor vehicle.
The conversion process includes extending the roofline, rebuilding the rear quarter panels, and adapting the B-pillars to accommodate larger rear side windows. A notable feature is the sheet-metal tailgate that extends from the bumper up into the roof, creating a large aperture for the load area. While the interior retains the standard 944 rear bench, it features a bespoke headliner and reworked rear trim.
CarPoint recommends using the 944 S2 or turbocharged variants as donor cars. The conversion service starts at €100,000 net, excluding the cost of the donor vehicle. Each build requires several hundred hours of bodywork, assembly, and painting, with a full exterior respray included as standard.
