CarPoint Porsche 944 shooting brake conversion
Overview
German tuner CarPoint GmbH has introduced the GT-K44, a handcrafted conversion that transforms the Porsche 944 into a two-door shooting brake. The project is inspired by 1980s estate conversions, such as the Artz 924 Turbo Kombi, and involves extensive structural modifications including an extended roofline, rebuilt rear quarter panels, and modified B-pillars.
Key technical details include a sheet-metal tailgate that creates a large aperture for the load area and a bespoke interior with a reworked rear trim. While the conversion requires a customer-supplied donor vehicle—with the company recommending the 944 S2 or turbocharged variants—CarPoint can assist in sourcing these cars.
The conversion service is limited to 10 units and starts at €100,000 net, excluding the cost of the donor vehicle. Each build involves several hundred hours of bodywork, assembly, and painting, with a full exterior respray included as standard.
