Carrera Panamericana 2026 enters Veracruz stage

The 39th modern edition of the Carrera Panamericana has arrived in the port of Veracruz, Mexico, following a 700-kilometer stage from Chiapas. The competition features approximately 80 classic and sports vehicles, including a notable electric car, with drivers and navigators representing more than 12 nationalities.

On Saturday, October 17, the race continues from the Veracruz Macroplaza toward Xalapa, with a technical stop scheduled at Museo Kaná. The route proceeds through the mountainous regions of Banderilla, Las Vigas, Perote, and the Atzalan sierra before heading toward Puebla. Due to the high-speed sections, temporary road closures are expected in the Perote–Tlapacoyan, Tlapacoyan–Martínez de la Torre, and Tlapacoyan–Teziutlán stretches between 07:00 and 14:30.

Local authorities, including the Secretary of Tourism Igor Rojí López, noted that the event serves to promote regional tourism. The full race spans approximately 3,857 kilometers from Tuxtla Gutiérrez to Zacatecas, scheduled to run through October 22.
